1. WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?
I approach every shoot with the intent to keep the mood relaxed and fun. My style is a combination of photojournalistic and artistic. I want to capture those fun candid moments and create a few editorial moments to make sure we capture each of you looking your best. This blend of styles lends itself to capturing those important images we discussed in the consultation. After I get the must have shots, we will then focus on capturing other fun and candid moments. I will create situations that will allow me to capture images that may go unnoticed to you, but will evoke natural emotion between you. We stress the importance of being yourself and and just having fun!
2. HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO BOOK A SESSION?
Ian Andrew Photography is a full service boutique wedding and portrait photography studio with a limited number of weddings and portrait sessions available throughout the year. I always recommend that you call, or email 30 - 40 days prior to your intended portrait session date to find out about availability. If you are inquiring about wedding coverage then the standard recommendation for an inquiry and/ or booking is approximately 9 months to 1 year out from your wedding date.
3. WHERE DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH YOUR PORTRAIT SESSIONS?
San Diego is a beautiful city with amazing locations and the weather is comfortable all year round, which is great for photographing weddings and portraits throughout the year. During our consultation we will discuss what kind of location would best suit you and I have plenty of recommendations to find a fit for your personal style. If you want to be photographed at a certain location, that’s great, especially since certain locations may have special meaning for you. Just let me know.
4. WHAT IF IT RAINS ON THE DAY OF MY SESSION?
If there is inclement weather on the day of your shoot, we will reschedule for the earliest date that is convenient for both parties and NO additional charges will be applied.
5. WHAT IF I NEED TO RESCHEDULE MY SESSION?
We understand things comes up and that a session may need to be rescheduled. Session fees are non-refundable, however they can be applied to a rescheduled session with a 24 hour cancelation notice. We will reschedule your session for the next available date that is convenient for you and the studio.
6. DOES IAN ANDREW PHOTOGRAPHY HAVE INSURANCE?
Yes, we carry full liability insurance.
7. HOW LONG WILL MY SESSION TAKE?
All portrait sessions are scheduled for 2 hours. We recommend that you arrive early to your location and have everyone ready for the shoot ahead of time.
8. WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY TO SHOOT?
The best time of day for portrait sessions is close to sunset, or first thing in the morning. Shooting during those times produces the best light for photography. Portrait sessions that are booked mid-day can produce harsh shadows and unflattering light.
9. DO YOU OFFER CUSTOM FRAMING?
Yes! During our initial consultation we will go over and discuss all of our products, including custom framing for your home. We have several wall collections to choose from, large single canvas prints & keepsake albums. During your ordering session we will show you our wide selection of products to match your style and compliment your homes decor.
10. WHAT IS A DIGITAL NEGATIVE?
A Digital Negative is the unedited original file from a digital camera. All portrait collections will included a pre-determined amount of Digital Negatives.
11. DO YOU PROVIDE THE DIGITAL NEGATIVES?
Yes, you your session will yield approximately 100-125 selected digital negatives, which are chosen by Ian. If you decide not to purchase any prints or products through Ian Andrew Photography, you will get your digital negative via an online link that can be downloaded to your computer. The link will be good for a limited time, so download your images to you computer asap. Any links that are resent due to the expiration of the link will incur an additional charge of $25.00. You will also be provided a print release that will allow you to print the digital negatives up to 8” x 10”. Any prints larger than 8”X10” may be purchased through Ian Andrew Photography.
12. HOW LONG WILL YOU KEEP MY FILES?
All the images from your shoot will be archived for 30 days after you receive your flash drive, or digital negatives on our studios server. After the 30 days your images will be moved off of the server. It is very important that you back up your digital files after you receive the link to your images, or flash drive to your computer.
13. DO I GET THE DIGITAL FILES OF THE PRINTS OR PRODUCTS I PURCHASE?
Yes, you will get a custom flash drive of all the ordered prints and products you order. Your “digital negatives” will also be provided on a custom flash drive. Your digital negatives and purchased prints can be printed up to 8” x10”. Larger prints are available through Ian Andrew Photography.
14. WHO OWNS THE COPYRIGHT TO ALL THE IMAGES?
All photos taken by Ian Andrew Studios Inc. A.K.A Ian Andrew Photography are copyright protected by the studio by title 17 U.S code (U.S. Copyright Act), However, clients are granted a license by Ian Andrew Studios Inc. to reproduce, display, distribute and create derivative works of the photographs from the Flash Drive either in digital, or print form for personal use only, email distribution, modeling comp cards, framed prints, canvases and scrapbooks. Hi-resolution digital files can be printed up to 8” x 10” only. Larger prints are available through Ian Andrew Studios Inc.
15. WILL I BE ABLE TO POST OUR IMAGES TO SOCIAL MEDIA?
The studio will provide the client low resolution, watermarked files to use on social media or personal sites.
16. WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
Cash, Check, Visa, MasterCard and AMEX. We also offer payment plans.
17. HOW AND WHEN DO I GET TO SEE MY IMAGES AND PLACE MY ORDER?
The most important decisions in the wedding & portrait process occur during your ordering session. It’s crucial that all decision makers are present during this time and that you come prepared with any measurements of wall spaces you are interested in working with in your home. Approximately 2 weeks after your portrait session we will have a scheduled viewing & order session at our in-home studio, or your home, which ever is more convenient for you. 3 days before your viewing & order session our studio will send you a gallery to view the top images from your shoot. This gives you a chance to go through and get familiar with the photos you want to choose to be retouched & ordered. During your viewing & ordering session we will present your images in a custom slideshow and help you select the products that will compliment your home, office, or any gifts for friends and family. This service is the foundation of the studio and we take pride in providing a custom experience for each client.
If necessary we can make other arrangements to view and order products.
18. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY ORDER?
After we receive your total print order payment, we will place your order immediately and it should take approximately 4-5 weeks. You have the option to pick up your order, or have it delivered to your home. If you need it sooner, please let the studio know during your ordering session and we will try to accommodate your request as best we can. Depending on our vendors, there might be a small rush fee added to an order.
